Antimonial Lead
BMI manufactures Antimonial Lead with an installed capacity of 4500 MTPA. These alloys are crucial for applications that require enhanced durability and resistance to corrosion, ensuring reliability and longevity in batteries and other industries.
BMI India is one of India’s prominent Antimonial Lead manufacturers.
Antimonial Lead is a blend of Lead and predominantly Antimony along with other elements as per customer specifications and requirements. Our Lead Antimony Alloys are engineered to deliver superior mechanical strength, hardness, and thermal resistance, making them ideal for battery grids, bearings, and industrial applications. The addition of antimony enhances the alloy’s structural integrity, improving cycling performance and lifespan in lead-acid batteries.
These alloys also exhibit excellent resistance to corrosion and deformation, ensuring high performance under extreme conditions. Manufactured using state-of-the-art technology and strict quality control, our Lead Antimony Alloys meet global industry standards. Whether for automotive, energy storage, or heavy-duty industrial applications, our alloys provide unmatched reliability and efficiency, reinforcing BMI’s commitment to quality and innovation.
At BMI we make a variety of Antimonial Lead from 1.75% Sb to 2.75% depending upon customer requirements.
Applications
Lead-Antimony Alloys (commonly containing 1–12% antimony) are widely used where improved mechanical strength, corrosion resistance, and castability of lead are required. Adding antimony hardens the otherwise soft lead, making it suitable for structural and electrical applications. Here are the most common applications of lead-antimony alloys:
-
Lead-Acid Battery Grids
Used in battery plates for strength, conductivity, and longer lifespan. -
Cable Sheathing
Protects underground and underwater cables from corrosion and mechanical damage. -
Ammunition (Bullets and Pellets)
Provides hardness and shape retention in bullets and shotgun pellets. -
Bearings and Bushings
Used in low-speed, heavy-load machinery for durability and wear resistance. -
Printing Industry (Type Metal)
Historically used for cast metal type in printing presses. -
Roof Flashings and Construction Linings
Offers durability and resistance to weathering in architectural elements. -
Radiation Shields (when extra hardness is needed)
Used in protective barriers requiring both density and mechanical stability.
